PSTT raises the aspirations of young people (12-21) from some of Portsmouth’s most socially disadvantaged areas. We use regular participation in sailing, boating and learning marine skills to engage, motivate and enable youngsters to develop their potential.

In our first two years, 64 young people have achieved over 240 commercially recognised qualifications.

In 2016/17 we are working weekly with over 80 pupils. The Trust aims to build this to over 200 young people from the Portsmouth area by 2019.

 PSTT in Action...

The United States Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Matthew Barzun, recently spent a couple of hours visiting PSTT. He saw for himself the results of our work, with demonstrations from our pupils, and awarding their certificates. Plus a visit to Boathouse 4 where PSTT’s young people are building St Ayles Rowing skiffs with the IBTC, and watched the turning of the first boat.

As a result of the Ambassador Barzun’s visit, PSTT pupils received a personal invitation to visit the American Embassy in London!
